Woodbury Wide Awake and Woodbury Community Orchard invite you to a family event taking place on Woodbury Cricket Ground on Sunday 27th April from 10.30am - 2pm. Themed around wildflowers and trees, the event will include a wildflower ID workshop with professional ecologist Matt Cowley, nature themed craft making, quiz and poetry trail, and a picnic lunch to celebrate our findings.

Established in 2013, Woodbury Community Orchard is a much cared for and peaceful space for the people and wildlife of Woodbury in East Devon, located at Woodbury Cricket Ground on Town Lane.

Woodbury Wide Awake is a natural environment focus group, inspired by the life, work and legacy of former parishioner and renowned botanist Reverend William Keble Martin - who authored and illustrated the best-selling book The Concise British Flora in Colour (1965), and died in the parish in 1969. The group focuses on monitoring, protecting and enhancing the local natural environment of the parish for biodiversity, organising events and surveying and recording data on wildflowers and trees.

At this event, we’ll be sharing the results of a wildflower survey conducted during 2024, and how the results compare with the same survey conducted both 5 and 10 years’ previously. We’ll also be sharing the results of a Hedgerow Tree survey with data from 2014 and 2024, and looking for volunteers to help with a parish Ash Tree survey.

Do come along on Sunday 27th April and learn more about the incredible biodiversity we have on our doorstep.

Bring a picnic. We look forward to seeing you there.
